Auto Repair Shop Books Cleanup How a first call works

What these pages are, what a free call is not, and how an engagement actually starts. Effective 11 October 2026.

Who these terms are with

These terms are with the practice named in the footer of every page. Using this address means you accept what is on this page. What the practice will and will not do is set out on the disclosures page, and those limits are part of these terms.

What the pages are, and are not

Everything published here is general information for an owner who runs a shop. It is not advice about your own numbers, and opening a page does not make you a client. Tax and reporting rules change, and they land differently on different facts, so confirm anything that matters for your return before you act on it.

Nothing here is mechanical advice. A repair order is a set of charges. It is not a diagnosis of a car.

A free call is a conversation

The time offered on the calendar creates no engagement, no ongoing duty, and no obligation on either side. We will say plainly what we see and what an engagement would involve, including when the honest answer is that you do not need one yet. Work begins only when both of us sign a written engagement letter that names the scope and the fee.

Scope and fees

Every engagement is defined in writing before it starts. Fees are quoted for that scope. Anything outside it is quoted separately before it is done. Either of us may end an engagement in writing. You remain responsible for fees earned to that date, and your records are returned to you.

What the work depends on from you

The work is only as good as what it is built on. You are responsible for giving us complete and accurate records, for what is in your own systems, and for the decisions you make. We will tell you when a line does not tie, and we will not build on a month that has not closed.

Bring the repair order, the deposit, and the month you believe is already closed. We will say if that month is still open. A return is prepared from closed months only. Payroll, if it is part of the work, is set up on the provider you already use. We do not take over payday, and we do not keep a second set of pay records off to the side.

The pages themselves

The words, layouts, and images on this address belong to the practice that publishes it. You may print and quote them for your own use with attribution. You may not republish the pages or use them to train a product without written permission.

The address is provided as it is. We keep it accurate and available, and we do not promise it will never be wrong or never be down. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Where a dispute goes

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas, and any dispute belongs in the courts of Dallas County, Texas.
